One year on

On 8 OctoBer 2005, a massive earthquake devastated Kashmir, Pakistan and northern India, claiming at least 73,000 lives, and leaving more than 3 million people homeless.

One year after the disaster, the reconstruction effort has achieved a great deal but is far from over. More needs to be done, especially to protect those facing a second winter under inadequate shelter.
